Local Economic Development Joint Ventures and Metropolitan Networks

CHRISTOPHER V. HAWKINS
PAQ, Vol. 35 No. 1, (2011)

This paper explores local government joint ventures and metropolitan economic development networks. A survey of local government officials is used to collect data on the relations among local governments and network actors in twelve metropolitan areas. Descriptive statistics and the results of mean t-tests suggest that there is variation in the extent to which local governments utilize government and non-government organizations to facilitate policy setting, reduce the risk in interjurisdictional agreements, and communicate with cities throughout the region.
