Finding Organizational Reality in Paradise: A Team of Two

Author: RONALD J. STUPAK and KATHERINE M. STUPAK
Published in PAQ, Vol. 30 No. 1

The ultimate goal of a team of two is the overriding desire to
build, to serve, to perform, to grow, and to teach. At its highest level,
team-based leaders and team-led organizations regardless of size,
location, or context are followed, imitated, and respected because of
who they are and the values their organizations represent. Servant
leadership, within a team framework, is becoming the preferred way of
galvanizing the workforce in the contemporary, service driven
environment. The team of two described in this article systematically
and operationally managed alignment, coordination, continuous
learning, power, interpersonal interactions, and the decision process by
creating and maintaining mutual trust, accountability, and respect. In
effect, the “reflective practitioners” highlighted in this analysis
demonstrate that actions do speak louder than words.
